We have two internships available for January - June 2011. Deadline to apply is October 8, 2010.
Social Media Intern
Our social media internship is a 6-month internship that will run from January - June 2011 and will be based in our offices just outside Denver, Colorado. This individual will be responsible for the development and implementation of our company’s social media strategy at the direction of our marketing and creative directors. The position pays minimum wage and includes (shared) accommodations in a furnished townhouse owned by the company approximately one mile from the office. This is a contract position (meaning not “permanent” with a specific end time), requires 30 hours per week and does not include benefits. We believe it is perfect for a current college student or recent graduate seeking an excuse to spend six months in Colorado while gaining practical experience in new media marketing.
The best candidate will have: demonstrable experience in Static FBML and other Facebook promotional strategies; polling and other conversation-creating techniques on Twitter, Facebook, and Linked-In; knowledge about blog promotion; and an ability to create compelling content that provides insight into the powerful experience that CAMPUSPEAK provides. The more experience with website development and maintenance, the better, and the candidate should know his/her way around Apple systems. Ability to produce quick, interesting video content on iMovie or other video editing software a big plus.
Success will be measured by the intern’s ability to increase the quality, quantity and frequency of our social media interactions with key constituencies, as well as the intern’s ability to create a strategy which can be implemented beyond his or her time in our office. Because the intern’s work will directly affect our image with customers and the company’s overall brand, we are looking for an intern who understands the balance between clever social media and achieving a professional, respectable company image. The intern will also help with other marketing tasks and projects above and beyond the social media activities.
Generally, those who enjoy a CAMPUSPEAK internship are those who possess a self-starting attitude; good writing skills; a proven ability to problem-solve; a friendly, outgoing personality; a good sense of humor; and a willingness to work cheerfully in a team environment. We are a casual, small business environment where everyone’s contribution counts and where everyone is expected to pitch in for the good of the company on a daily basis.
Application deadline is October 8, 2010. Please send questions and application materials electronically to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). The application should include a letter detailing the candidate’s interest in the position and his/her general ideas about what constitutes an appropriate social media strategy. Please also include a resume, examples of work, and at least one recommendation from a campus professional who can vouch for the candidate’s work ethic and quality of work. Actual start and ending dates for the internship are flexible, to a degree. Several of our past interns have gotten additional jobs in the local area to supplement their internship income, and we will work (within reason) to make this possible.
Interns must have their own transportation while in Denver and will be responsible for their fair share of utilities in the townhouse. We will assist any interns pursuing academic credit for this internship.
Public Relations and Marketing Intern
Our public relations and marketing internship is a 6-month internship that will run from January - June 2011 and will be based in our offices just outside Denver, Colorado. This individual will be responsible for the implementation of our public relations plan at the direction of our marketing and lectures directors and in collaboration with our external public relations firm. The position pays minimum wage and includes (shared) accommodations in a furnished townhouse owned by the company approximately one mile from the office. This is a contract position (meaning not “permanent” with a specific end time), requires 30 hours per week and does not include benefits. We believe it is perfect for a current college student or recent graduate excited to spend six months in Colorado while gaining practical experience in public relations and marketing.
The best candidate will have excellent journalistic writing skills (high output, compelling, interesting enough to grab readers). Approximately 75-percent of his/her time will be spent: writing news items for our website; creating text for promotional materials; updating website content; generating small feature stories for publication in outside magazines; producing e-newsletters for key constituencies; setting up media interviews for speakers; issuing sales notices to our best customers; and more. The other 50-percent of his/her time will be spent assisting our marketing director with tasks including mailing list maintenance, bulk mailings, and some work with our online webinars. The candidate should know his/her way around Apple systems and have strong tech aptitude. If you don’t like writing, in other words, this isn’t the internship for you.
Success will be measured by the intern’s ability: to produce compelling stories and other writings that drive interest in our speakers and our company; to make the most of our relationship with our public relations firm; and to help the marketing director reach her overall goals for the first half of 2011. Generally, those who enjoy a CAMPUSPEAK internship are those who possess a self-starting attitude; terrific interpersonal skills; a proven ability to problem-solve; a friendly, outgoing personality; a good sense of humor; and a willingness to work cheerfully in a team environment. We are a casual, small business environment where everyone’s contribution counts and where everyone is expected to pitch in for the good of the company on a daily basis.
